Petroleum Service Corporation is seeking an individual to join our team as a Wash Rack Operator at an outstanding OSHA free safety record, chemical plant in Freeport, TX. The Rail Wash Rack Operator will be responsible for operating an automated wash cycle for hopper railcars and perform light rail switching to move railcars in and out of the wash rack unit. This career opportunity is a full-time position. Experience is not always required; we pay for on-the-job training. Work Schedule: 12 hour rotating shifts ( days / nights / weekends / holidays )

Pay: $16.00 / hr. to $21.50 / hr.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Inspects all railcars to assure bottom outlets are closed, capped and secure
  • Verifies track is clear of all technicians, equipment, and de-railers before moving railcars into the wash rack before activating the trackmobile
  • Operate the trackmobile or forklift to move railcars into the wash rack unit
  • Opens and inspects all railcar hatches, apply ribbons and communicate any findings to the dispatch rail crew for weighing the railcar
  • Installs wash heads and lower heads with air hoist. Centers heads with opening in hopper car
  • Ensures the water tank is at 60% or above prior to beginning washing and continues to monitor water level in the trench
  • Inspects tubes on cars for pellets, excessive water or other contaminates.
  • Adjust valves to ensure no contaminates remain, if necessary, rinses tubes with water / blow with air
  • Applies plugs; closes, latches, and seals hatch covers on railcars
  • Coordinates with rail switch crew to remove cleaned cars and spot dirty for washing
  • Completes documentation of railcars washed or rejected on hopper car wash report.
  • Performs any required railcar maintenance and document all repairs
  • Maintains inventory of parts for hopper railcars
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment by participating in all housekeeping activities
  • Any other duties that may be assigned in order to complete the assigned task.
Job Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • 18 years or older and legally able to work in the U.S.
  • Stable work history with good references from past employers
  • Pass a drug screen, physical, and background check
  • Speak fluent English
  • PSC is a veteran-friendly company. Previous military experience and proven ability to follow procedures is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
You must be able to:
  • Speak, write, read, hear, and have good vision
  • Work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) without restriction and pass any medical examination associated with the use of PPE
  • Lift 50 pounds floor to waist
  • Push and pull 50 pounds horizontally
  • Carry 20 pounds while walking
  • Walk 3-10 miles per day
  • Stand 4-8 hours per day
  • Climb stairs and ladders
  • Support oneself on a ladder with two feet and one arm extended for up to five minutes
  • Extend arms through normal range of motion while standing and squatting
